Launched in September 2024, the International School Chess Federation (ISCF) operates as an official partner of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), the global governing body of the sport. By integrating chess into school curricula, the ISCF empowers students to develop critical thinking, creativity, and confidence, skills that are essential for success both in the classroom and beyond. Chess teaches children to anticipate, analyze, and make thoughtful decisions by balancing logic and intuition - qualities that benefit them throughout their lives.

What the ISCF Stands For
At its core, the ISCF believes that chess is more than a game - it is a powerful educational tool that shapes young minds. The federation’s mission includes:

• Bringing Chess to Classrooms Worldwide
Chess has long been recognized for enhancing cognitive abilities such as problem-solving, memory, and concentration. Through strategic partnerships with schools, the ISCF integrates chess into the curriculum and equips educators with the training and resources needed to make the game both accessible and engaging for students of all ages.

• Building a Global Network of Chess Schools
The ISCF is creating an international community of chess-focused schools and academies, enabling students, teachers, and coaches to collaborate and exchange knowledge. By fostering this global network, the federation ensures equitable access to quality chess education and continuous development opportunities, regardless of geographic location.

• Organizing International Student Tournaments
Beyond the classroom, the ISCF provides a stage for young talent to shine. Through its international school tournaments, the federation enables students to compete with their peers from around the world, gain valuable experience, and become part of a global community of future chess leaders.

• Promoting Chess as a Lifelong Skill
Chess cultivates discipline, resilience, and strong decision-making, traits that extend well beyond the board. By embedding chess into the fabric of education, the ISCF helps raise not just skilled players, but thoughtful, well-rounded individuals equipped to tackle life’s challenges.

A Global Movement for Educational Change

With the support of FIDE, the ISCF is building a global movement that positions chess not only as a competitive sport but as a universal language for learning and growth. By connecting millions of students, educators, and chess enthusiasts, the federation is inspiring the next generation of thinkers, problem-solvers, and leaders.
